Tanzanian labour Law requires that workers should be provided written employment contract at the start of employment except those who work less than 6 days in a month for an employer. The employment contract may be of definite or indefinite period or for a specific task.

Clauses of the Contract

The contract has nine clauses. All those clauses are key to the contract. Missing one of them might lead to unexpected costs incase of disputes.

1. Introduction Clause defining the type of contract and legal basis of it’s formation.
2. Agreement Clause defining the consent to enter into a binding contract.
3. Remuneration Clause defining the consideration for performance of the contract.
4. Working Hours Clause defining hours of work for the employee.
5. Location Clause defining where the employee will be expected to be located.
6. Annual Leave Clause defining the leave that the employee is entitled to every year.
7. Misconduct Clause defining the expected penalties in case of misconduct.
8. Privacy Clause defining the consent to to disclose information of the employer.
9. Applicable Law Clause defining the legal basis for the whole contract.
